Examination of Goods

Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested, before the auction takes place. Buyers are responsible for satisfying themselves concerning the condition of the goods and matters referred to in the catalogue description.

 

 

Catalogue Descriptions

While every care has been taken in the preparation of our catalogue, any statement as to authorship, attribution, origin, date, age, size, medium, weight, provenance, condition or estimated selling price is a statement of opinion and is not to be taken as a statement or representation of fact.

 

 

HOW TO BID

 

Buying in person

All Buyers must be registered prior to bidding at auction.  Registration is simple and quick you will be  required to complete only one registration form, after this initial registration you will not need to complete any future forms.

 

Each time you attend an auction and want to buy you must get a 'Paddle', a card with a buyer number printed on it, prior to bidding.  The Auctioneer may refuse a bid or re-offer a Lot if a Buyer has no current  paddle number.

 

Each auction is unique and you will need to collect a new paddle number for each auction you attend.

 

Absentee / Commission bids

If you are unable to attend the sale you can complete an absentee/commission bid form which instructs us to bid on your behalf .  You simply inform us of the highest amount you are prepared to pay for the lot and this will be executed by the Auctioneer on your behalf. If he is able to purchase the lot for you at less than your maximum offer, he will do so, allowing for reserve prices and other bids .  You can complete our commission bid form in person or this can also be arranged by telephoning the saleroom or by email. This service is undertaken as a free service to bidders, however we cannot accept liability for failure to make a commission bid.

 

Telephone bids

It is possible to bid on the telephone. With this service we will call you approximately ten lots before the lot you wish to bid on, enabling you to bid live just as you would if you were in the room.  Due to the limited number of telephone lines request for this service must be made before 10:30am Saturday. Requests for this service are accepted on a first come basis. The telephone bidding service is subject to the availability of a member of our team at the appropriate time on the auction day and telephone connections.  We therefore do not guarantee successful contact and all such arrangements are therefore made entirely at the bidder’s risk. This service is undertaken as a free service to bidders, however we cannot accept liability for failure to make contact.

 

Condition Reports

For bidders unable to attend our saleroom to inspect personally any goods in which they are interested, we can offer to provide a condition report. Most of our catalogue descriptions do not include any description of condition and all items are sold on an 'as is' basis. Condition reports are a statement of our Valuers' opinion, not as fact. We will not be held responsible for any omissions or mistakes made in a condition report. If you want to be certain, you must come to view any items you are interested in.

 

CHARGES

 

Buyers Premium

All lots are subject to 18% buyers premium (inclusive of VAT).

 

A minimum buyers premium of £6 (inclusive of VAT) will apply to each INVOICE (this does not apply to each lot)

 

Storage

Unless prior approval has been given all lots must be collected by Tuesday following the auction in which they were purchased. All Lots must be removed by the Buyers risk and expense. Failure to collect by 4.00pm Tuesday will incur a minimum storage charge of £6 (inclusive of VAT) per lot per day

 

 

PAYMENT

Payments can be made in person at our office by debit or credit card. Please be advised that payments by credit card or foreign debit cards incur a 3.5% surcharge. We do not accept American Express or Diners Club cards.

 

Payment will also be accepted by cash (up to £9,999), and by bank transfer.

 

COLLECTION
